Webinar: Overview To Document Accessibility
February 11, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EST
FreeSelf-Paced Learning
Overview to Accessible Documents
Previously, only people with web coding skills could make accessible documents and web content. However, with the advancements in everyday software, now anyone can create and maintain accessible documents! Participants will learn about the background and theory of accessibility, how it effects document creation, and what changes in the current organizations workflow and process are required. Although most of us are aware of basic document set-up and writing skills, many people have difficulty meeting the accessibility requirements under the AODA, particularly those related to Information & Communications Standard. This webinar will give you a well-rounded understanding of how documents can be made accessible while improving your workflow. 1 in 7 people in Ontario currently have a disability and this is expected to rise to 1 in 5 by 2036 as the population ages. By creating accessible documents, you are including people with disabilities at your organization, whether they be clients, employees, the public, or board members! You don’t need a large budget or a specialized workforce to make accessible documents. It starts with the individual – with you! By understanding accessibility issues and the strategies to tackle them, your organization can communicate more effectively while complying with legal and moral responsibilities.
